  • Why is my water heater making noise?

This can be caused by several issues. Some common reasons are:

    • Sediment Build-Up: Over time, minerals in water can accumulate at the bottom of the tank, especially in areas with hard water. This can cause popping or rumbling noises as it heats up and bubbles, and can reduce the efficiency of your water heater.

    • Water Heater Overheating: If the thermostat is set too high, the water inside the tank can overheat, resulting in popping, sizzling, or bubbling noises. This can also be a sign that the heating element is malfunctioning or that there is an issue with the thermostat.

    • Pressure Build-Up: This may happen if the temperature and pressure relief valve is faulty, which can create hissing or whining sounds.

    • Faulty Heating Element (for Electric Water Heaters): The element can overheat or become damaged, creating a buzzing or whining noise.
  • How do I know if I have a water leak?

Here are a few signs that may indicate you have a water leak:

    • Increased Water Bills: If you notice a significant increase in your water usage without a corresponding change in your household activities, it could indicate a leak.

    • Low Water Pressure: A sudden drop in water pressure, particularly in a specific area of your home, may be caused by a leak in your plumbing system.

    • Wet or Damp Spots: Visible wet patches on walls, ceilings, or floors are a clear sign of a water leak. These areas may feel damp to the touch or show signs of water damage like discoloration, staining, or mold growth.

    • Sound of Running Water: If you hear the sound of running water when no faucets or appliances are in use, it could indicate that water is escaping from a pipe.

    • Musty Odors or Mold: Leaks can lead to moisture buildup, creating the perfect environment for mold or mildew growth. A musty odor or visible mold near walls, floors, or ceilings could mean a hidden water leak.
